It may seem like hitting “publish” should be the final step in the process of making a post, but it’s not. In reality you’re only halfway done. The steps that come next are essential when creating an effective post with wide reach.
UTILIZE YOUR PROFESSIONAL NETWORK
Encourage your community college, businesses you interact with and participants in your programs to “like and follow” the IIN social media pages.
When a post is created (especially from your region) reach out to your community college’s social media manager and encourage them to like and share.
ENGAGE WITH THE IIN PAGE AND ITS FOLLOWERS FROM YOUR PERSONAL ACCOUNTS
1. Make sure that you are following the Iowa Intermediary Network across all platforms
2. Like and share IIN content personally (especially if it is from your region)
3. Comment on INN posts from your personal accounts. If you aren’t active on one or more of our platforms, now is a great time to get started
HELPFUL HINT #1:
Be sure to use the correct account for liking, commenting, and sharing. As we’ve learned the hard way, this can be easily overlooked and can be a bit tricky when using a phone. The consequence of using the wrong account will be confusing for your audience as well as your personal network.
HELPFUL HINT #2:
If in doubt, err on the side of courtesy and professionalism, and skip sarcasm; it doesn’t translate well into print.
Hopefully, using this checklist becomes part of your daily routine, and our teamwork will rapidly grow IIN’s presence throughout Iowa.
