Work-based learning moves classroom instruction into the world and can bring the world into the classroom. We connect students and educators with classroom speakers, job shadows, worksite tours, student internships, educator externships, and other strategic activities. Our work focuses on career awareness, career exploration, and workplace learning in all career clusters. These clusters include high demand areas such as STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), critical infrastructure, commercial and residential construction, advanced manufacturing, healthcare/bioscience, information technology, and other careers of interest to students and educators.
The Iowa Intermediary Network coordinator for your area has the experience and the connections to find the right experience for you and your students. Visit our contact page, enter your zip code, and get your coordinator’s phone and email address.

“If you haven’t done an internship and are thinking about it … Do It! I didn’t really know if I wanted to go into diet and nutrition, but this internship (at the Mercy Hospital in Iowa City) was an eye-opener, and I now really want to go down this path for my life career.”
